Vanessa Mardueno's family is originally from Mexicali, Mexico. However she was born in East Los Angeles, CA. Her musical roots not only lie in the Latin rhythms of her ancestry but also from the East Los Angeles Reggae/Ska scene. For years, she played local cafes, small clubs, and bars as a stand out singer/songwriter known for her unique guitar style and jazzy vocals, opening for bands such as Ozomatli and Quinto Sol. In 2004, she became a Christian. Naturally, her musical focus became spiritual and she began using her gifts leading worship for churches and international mission trips. Despite her new focus, the drive she had for creating her own variety of original music did not diminish.
