Album: The Black and the White of It
Well it's a strange world without you, even stranger than before
It's a wonder I found you, between the heat of life's wars
Tell me again why you came here, repeat the words that you spoke
That you could change the heart within a man, and set his eyes to hope
'Cause I'm not a good man, but I'm hoping to be
One who can stand up, stand up strong on my knees
Maybe once or twice I lucked on a great hand, still I'll fall short so let me repeat
That I'm not a good man, but I'm hoping to be
I got boys of my own now, I've got lines to learn and teach
I've got prayers that read like directions to stars that are way out of reach
But if Abram heard you right Lord, I know there's a promise for me and for them
So it's back to the start of the prayer Lord it goes "Hey, help me please and Amen."
Surrender this time now, to the greatness of the unknown
I'm feeling held by an ocean, an ocean of love that flows from God's throne
I know I don't have much to offer, only hands and feet and heart
So dear Jesus for my children carry them, carry them from the start
