He's Here For Me
by The Williamsons

Album: Give Them Jesus

Stephen was a man full of Holy Ghost power
He boldly preached the word every day and hour
And the people couldn't get enough of what he said

He would talk about the blood and the cross of Christ
Then beg them to repent and make it right
But the enemy didn't like it, he wanted him dead

So they brought him to the court before the high priest
and accused him lies and even blasphemy
But Stephen didn't say a word, he held his peace

When the priest had heard enough he asked "Is this true? Are you guilty of the things they're saying about you?"
Then Stephen opened up his mouth and he started to preach.

He was there when Moses led God's children out of Pharaoh's Hand
He was there when Abraham obeyed and Isaac spotted a ram
When Elijah faced the prophets, and when Jonah faced the sea
He was there for all of them and he's here for me.

Well he didn't like the words that this preacher spoke
So they threw him outta town and picked up stones
Then preceded to do their best to shut him down

As they stoned him Stephen turned his face to the sky
And he whispered a prayer that was heard on high
Then in pain and agony he fell to the ground

But the story's not over this is where it gets good
Cause Stephen did exactly what he should
He called on the Lord just like those prophets of old

Well his accusers thought that he was as good as dead
So they couldn't believe when he said
"I see Jesus in paradise and he's calling me home"

He was there when Moses led God's children out of Pharaoh's Hand
He was there when Abraham obeyed and Isaac spotted a ram
When Elijah faced the prophets, and when Jonah faced the sea
He was there for all of them and he's here for me.

When Elijah faced the prophets, and when Jonah faced the sea
He was there with ol' Stephen and he's here for me.
