I await for the day

Lord, I see you in the people that I meet
I hear you in the people that I greet
Your message comes through others
when I need it the most
I know it is you
guiding me through
the complexities of all of what I do.

The commandments should suffice
as my guide stating advice
But oh, how it is difficult to discern
The right way
is not always clear
The graces that you've given me
I have earned
in my attempt to draw you near

When my opponents wound me
and try to take me down
your Word informs me to Bless them
in order to turn things around
Lord, this is a major task
I am to Love them and Bless them
as waves of emotion
roll through me
altering my peace of mind
An undertaking which is daunting
But for you, I will do my best

I am to forgive, forgive and to forgive again
I say a forgiveness prayer many times a day
By allowing my recitation
to pave the way
for my heart to follow suit
and to forgive my opponents completely,
I free my heart and soul of anguish
which no longer binds me.

Lord, you are in charge of all things
The difficult challenges that I face
I see them as obstacles to overcome
But only with your grace
I can not address them by myself
My own power will never do
I need your strength to work in me
and to usher me closer to you.

I hesitate to place my unsettled emotions
at the base of your Cross
I wonder why you would ever want them
I wonder why you desire to take them
However, I soon see why
When I do this, they escape me
And I am filled with your Peace and Joy
And for that I am very grateful
For this I no longer question why
