To shadow somebody that means to let them stand in front, but
as a human is that really what I want? Uh uh. 'Cause my
tendencies they tend to be wantin' to do me… And
stayin' in my box, where I think I'm on top, and never let nobody in front of my two feet NAH!

Arrogance and pride, they tear and rip my eyes!
They distort my vision of shadowing God… And they make it
seem like He's the one who needs to back down, and He can
stand behind me, He can "play the background..."

But if I live with that mentality, I'm bound to be proud of me, a self-portrait distorted by what I seek, and if I
fan the flame of livin' just to glorify my name, then all that would come out of me is foul and needs to cease
PLEASE LORD! Humble my heart! So when I stand in front of
people, every time I'd rather stand in the dark YES!

And not seek my own personal gain, rather remain
in Your shadow… merciful King
