Album: Country Chapel
As a young man I ran crazy
Being cautioned to the wind
Doing things I d later would regret
Living like the devil, running around in sin
And I put my family's patience to the test
So when I look at you, it s like holding up a mirror
And am proud of the man you wanna be
But I shoot my share of trouble
Not down and be alive, if our mama didn't pray for me
So each night I get down on my knees
I close my eyes and bow down my head
And ask the good Lord please, watch over all my children
Give them everything they need
Like my mama used to pray for me
Temptations got the best of me
More times than I can count
And I imagine that you'll probably fall the same
Cause this families got traditions, of making bad decisions
And our blood is pumping through your veins
So take it from somebody whose been around the block
Have seen it all on board in disbelief
You can learn from my mistake and know that I ll be praying
Like my mama used to pray for me
So each night I get down on my knees
I close my eyes and bow down my head
And ask the good Lord please, watch over all my children
Give them everything they need
Like my mama used to pray for me
Lord give protection and honor, and love that is true
Give them strength and courage, to put their faith in you
Oh each night I get down on my knees
I close my eyes and bow my head
And ask the good Lord please, watch over all my children
Give them all they need
Like my mama used to pray for me
Like my mama used to pray for me
